The perfect piece to complete an interior space is not always easy to find. This project began with a vision for a coffee table, designed for an office setting, in a distinct, organic shape and a natural oak and walnut color palette. We explored many coffee table products, but none captured the concept we had for the space.
Through close collaboration between designer and woodworker, that vision became reality. This custom table highlights the value of working with skilled fabricators to bring unique concepts to life when existing vendors don’t offer exactly what is needed.
Crafted from solid oak, plywood, MDF, and oak and walnut veneers, the table’s fluid shape fits naturally within the seating area, allowing comfortable circulation around it.
During the fabrication process, we explored several finish options to balance aesthetics with everyday durability. By testing how each finish responded to moisture, even leaving a glass of iced water on the surface for several days, we found polyurethane to be the most durable, providing protection that could withstand the demands of daily office use while preserving the table’s natural warmth and texture.
