While studying furniture design at Denmark School of Design in Copenhagen, partner Katie was challenged to create a chair from just three meters of cold-rolled steel tubing.

During a bus tour of furniture factories, sketchbook studies led to a simple question: what would this tube of steel want to be? The answer became a single continuous line, curved to wrap around the body and form an elegant structural frame.

With one cut, eight bends, two rolls, and a single welded joint, the chair allows the steel tube to express its natural strength, economy, and grace. Originally conceived with a woven rope seat, the final design uses a minimal bent steel sheet, powder coated in matte black. Set against the glossy clear-coated frame, which reveals the tube’s natural patina, the seat takes on a softer, almost leather-like presence.
